DRAMATIC RESULTS IN DOUGLAS COUNTY COLORADO
In 2006, the new Democratic Party Douglas County Chair had a lot of work to do in a very red district that has been represented by ultra conservative Tom Tancredo for many years. The County Chair introduced Think Precinct to his Precinct Leaders (called PCPs, or Precinct Committee Persons) and provided lots of material support. In one election cycle, they increased Democratic voter turnout by 10% to 20% countywide.
“County Democratic Parties are enjoying a flood of new volunteers wanting to get involved, but having no experience with political activism. The task before them is overwhelming, and so is the task of training them. With the Think Precinct Guide we can focus our training on the needs of the immediate future, and let the volunteers read on to see the full picture as their interests and needs dictate. This allows us to offer them a much more fulfilling experience and more independence in their grassroots work.”
- Paul Thompson, Douglas County Democratic Party Chair

This color-coded map shows that Democrats got only 31% to 35% of the votes in most precincts. A few precincts had 36% to 40% support for Democrats. One precinct only had only 26% to 30% support for Democrats.
DOUGLAS COUNTY PRECINCTS 2006
In just one election cycle using Think Precinct, precincts increased Democratic voter turnout dramatically. A very red county is surprising everyone and starting to turn blue.
